The Independent State of Croatia (Nezavisna Država Hrvatska, or NDH) was a World War II puppet state of Germany and Italy founded on April 10, 1941, after the invasion of Yugoslavia by the Axis powers. The NDH encompassed most of modern-day Croatia, all of Bosnia and Herzegovina, part of modern-day Serbia, and a small portion of modern-day Slovenia in the Municipality of Brežice.
